Welcome to Friendship Outreach International!

Friendship Outreach International is a registered U.S. 501 (c) (3) faith-based nonprofit organization that provides humanitarian crisis assistance and educational opportunities to those who are in great need.

FOI was created with a partnership of South Sudanese Americans and their American friends in a response to the great needs of South Sudanese citizens who were forced out of their homeland, South Sudan. FOI also helps in other identified refugee camps globally.

From all of us at Friendship Outreach International, we would like to sincerely say, thank you so much in advance for your generous donations. We truly appreciate your support and your gifts will be put to great use of building a community church in Juba, South Sudan that is vital to that community.

We are seeking a total budget of; $10,000.00. The monetary fund we are seeking will cover: 1-Roofing, timbers, Iron sheet & nails, 2-Pit latrine, 3-Room for the pastor/changing room for the guests, 4-Local materials fence, and 5-Labor for the engineer, 6-Sound systems for community gospel.

South Sudanese Christians and non-Christians greatly suffered under imposed Sharia Islamic laws in the 1980s that forced many innocent south Sudanese to be converted into Islamic religion against their will and freedom of worship. Such context is being revived today with mass recruitment targeting the poor families who have been affected by civil war.

Today, there are rapid establishment of more Mosques and Islamic schools coming up which is worrying especially for those who are bought with money to accept Islam. It is on this background that we want our people to know and turn to the Living God, the savior, Son of God Jesus Christ. Spreading the gospel of Christ through missionary joint efforts is our work and we must preach the God words in Africa and countries that lack his word of life, we hope to reverse the situation by preaching the gospel to communities and beyond.

Despite the unbearable challenges that face the small congregation including rain, heating sun and lack of basic services, the congregation continued to work hard in faith looking upon the lord to expand boundaries of the gospel to the unreachable.

Key community services

• Preach the gospel of Christ Jesus in diverse communities
• Guiding and counseling
• Helping the vulnerable groups in the communities
• Praying for the world peace

May God bless you all so mightily and may He continue to spread His love all around the world through His gracious word. Thank you.

Education Outreach - January 2017

Friendship Outreach International has been providing education assistance since its inception in 2014. Millions of children do not attend school annually in East Africa due to outrage school fees. This year, we are planning to help more children gain access to education mainly in East Africa.

Your generous one-time or recurring contributions make our mission possible and we are forever thankful.

Thank you.

Water Crisis in East Africa - January 2017

This year, Friendship Outreach International is planning to focus on providing Clean and Safe drinking water to millions of people in East Africa. It has been reported that Global Water Crisis claims over three millions lives annually. To us at Friendship Outreach International, that is millions of reasons to work hard each day.

We have teamed up with local and International Organizations to deliver our promise this year.

Water4 Organization reported that....

-"In developing countries, about 80% of illnesses are linked to poor water and sanitation conditions".

-"1 out of every 5 deaths under the age of five worldwide is due to a water-related disease".

-"Diarrhea is more prevalent throughout the developing world largely due to the lower levels of access to safe drinking water and sanitation, along with poorer overall health, hygiene, and nutritional status". (UNICEF, WHO)

-"It is estimated that nearly 10% of the global disease burden could be reduced through improved water supply, sanitation, hygiene, and water resource management". (UN Water)

-"88% of global cases of diarrhea are estimated to be attributable to unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation, and poor hygiene". (World Health Organization)

-"90% of the deaths due to diarrhea diseases are children under 5 years old, mostly in developing countries".

(UN Water).

-"An estimated 4,100 children under the age of five die each day from diarrhea globally. Malnutrition, due to dirty water, inadequate sanitation, and hygiene, is estimated to lead to death in an additional 2,350 children under the age of five each day". (World Health Organization)

-"Diarrhea is the second leading cause of death among children under five in the world. Around 1.5 million deaths each year - nearly one in five – are caused by diarrhea. It kills more children than malaria, AIDS, and measles combined". (UNICEF, WHO)

These are alarming statistics. Your one-time or recurring contribution can make huge difference in people's lives.

Thank you for your support.

News Update May 2015

In April 2015, Friendship Outreach Team of two traveled to Uganda.  While in Uganda the team met with the office of the Prime Minister to discuss the logistics of shipping a container of clothing and soap. The team also traveled to the Nyumanzi Settlement Camp in Adjumani, Uganda.  This is where thousands of refugees from South Sudan are currently living.
The team met with the camp manager, UNHCR and church leaders to assess current needs.  The team was planning to build latrines while there but the weather was not good for building.  The team visited a primary school that serves over 1,000 children.  School supplies, soccer balls and T-shirts were distributed.  Needs for the school were also assessed.  Seeds were purchased and distributed in Nyumanzi and 10 families were identified by camp manger and 3 months’ worth of food was provided.

One team member then traveled to South Sudan.  While in Bor, the team member met with the commissioner and other local government officials and discussed working with them to bring clean water to South Sudan. The government was interested but is lacking funds. Friendship Outreach International formed a partnership with Sudan Christian Youth Ministries International (SCYMI). This is great partnership because our two organizations will be able to work together to help meet the needs of South Sudanese.  A team member also visited mass grave of over 1,000 South Sudanese, mostly women and children.

Friendship Outreach International is excited to get other projects started in the near future and be able to provide ongoing support in South Sudan and Uganda.

News Update January 29th, 2015
We'd like to thank William Watters Memorial United Methodist Church of Jarrettsville, MD for their beneficent gift of $3,120, and all of our recent individual donors who have brought our One Dollar Kindness Campaign to a total of $14,637!  We are humbled by and grateful to everyone who has helped!  This not only exceeds our initial goal of $10,000 but has also enabled us to make the next exciting announcement:
We have officially made plans to deliver your donations and get to work in the refugee camps this spring! Founding president Philip Deng and his wife, Amanda, will be traveling to the refugee camps in South Sudan and Uganda on March 28th. They will be spending 2 weeks distributing donated items and purchasing non-prescription medications and other necessities to share among individuals and families in need. They will also be enlisting the help of local people with oversight, future deliveries, gathering of resources and organizing the construction of latrines.  This will be a HUGE step forward in improving sanitation, living conditions and quality of life for everyone in the camps, while ensuring that our efforts make the highest possible impact.  Please pray for a safe and fruitful trip!
Philip Deng will also attend the annual World Leaders' Conference in Washington, D.C. next week with his friend and colleague, Dr. Richard Niemeyer, M.D.  Dr. Niemeyer, a member of Doctors Without Borders, Youth Outreach International and Project Peanut Butter, is currently leading an effort to build a factory in South Sudan that will produce ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) for malnourished children in and around the region.  Phil is now working with Dr. Niemeyer to help realize this worthy project.  The conference will be attended by politcians, cultural and spiritual leaders, and diplomats from all over the world, including the President of the United States, former president of Malawi Dr. Joyce Banda, and the Dalai Lama.  In addition to the open conferences, Phil is scheduled to meet privately with the South Sudanese Embassy, several diplomats and even the Dalai Lama!  We are proud of Phil's untiring work to heal and empower those in need, and pray that this opportunity brings the project a crucial step closer to becoming a reality.
